The Mark E. Goldberg Award is presented to a member of the Bucks County Bar Association, including honorary members, demonstrating a continuing commitment to community service outside the legal
profession.
The eligible candidate shall perpetuate personal relationships established with leaders of the religious, academic, recreational and charitable segments of the Bucks County community by:
• Proven legal competence;
• Honor;
• Trust;
• Service; and
• Respect for the rule of law and the administration of justice.
To nominate someone for this award, please send a letter outlining your reasons for nominating this person to: Mark E. Goldberg Award Committee, P. O. Box 300, Doylestown, PA 18901, before September
19, 2008.
William Penn 1683 Award Qualification
The purpose of the William Penn 1683 Award is to recognize the person or entity who has made significant
contributions to the Bucks County system of justice.
The qualities of the recipient(s), who shall not be a member of the Bucks County Bar Association, shall
be to:
• Promote better understanding of our system of justice;
• Encourage greater respect for law and the courts;
• Stimulate a deeper sense of individual responsibility so that citizens recognize their duties as well as their rights;
• Contribute to the effective functioning of our institutions of government; and
• Foster a better understanding and appreciation of the rule of law.
Please fill out the attached form and return to the Bar Association before September 19, 2008.
Call for Nominations to BCBA Board of Directors
Any member interested in serving as an officer or director on the BCBA Board of Directors is encouraged to fill out the Nominations Questionnaire and mail it to the Bar Association
office before September 19, 2008. Suggestions for nominations are also encouraged. Openings include, President Elect, Treasurer, Secretary and Board of Director positions. According to the Bylaws,
the Treasurer and Secretary are one year positions with the option of running for a second term. The current Secretary and Treasurer are completing their first term of office and is eligible to
be renominated to that position.
In accordance with the Bylaw changes there are four (4) Board of Director positions which shall be as follows: four (4) members will be elected to three (3) year terms.
The Committee has drafted a Questionnaire and a set of Guidelines for use in selecting the candidates. If you are interested in running for an office or a directorship, you may call Patty at the
Bar office and request that the Questionnaire and Guidelines be faxed to you, 215-348-9413 ext. 100 or 1-800-479-8585 ext. 100. The Committee would appreciate it if nominations are received no
later than September 19th.
For those wishing to be considered for nomination, the responsibilities are as follows:
· Attend all board meetings, appropriate committee meetings and special events.
· Be informed about the mission, services, policies and programs of the Bar Association.
· Serve on committees and offer to take on special assignments.
· Serve as liaison between the board and committees, sections and divisions.
· Inform others about the organization and its activities and functions.
· Assist the board in carrying out its fiduciary responsibilities, such as reviewing the organization’s annual financial statement.
Qualified candidates should:
· Possess experience in bar association activities such as chairing a committee, attending bar functions and being active in the bar community.
· Have the ability to think clearly and creatively and work well with people, individually and in a group.
· Be willing to be prepared for and attend board and committee meetings, take responsibility and follow through on given assignments, contribute personal and
financial resources in a generous way according to circumstances and open doors in the community.
