News from the BCBA President
Following shortly thereafter, on March 7, 2008, The Opening of the Assizes was held and again, the event was very much enjoyed by the bench and the bar. The President of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Andrew Susko, attended and spoke briefly. The staff did an excellent job, and we are very grateful for their hard work and assistance. As you know by now, Heather Martin, the Executive Director, has submitted her resignation which was regretfully accepted by the Board of Directors. Her last day was March 14th, 2008 and we wish her well and thank her for her many contributions to the Bucks County Bar Association. I have appointed a Search Committee which is chaired by Chris Serpico and the members on that Committee are: Dean Arthur, Chris Brill, Tom Donnelly, Tim Duffy, Michelle Frisbie, Liz Fritsch, Barbara Kirk, Carolyn Maro, Tina Mazaheri, Todd Savarese, Chris Serpico, Julie Silver-Goldstein and Herb Sudfeld. (The names in bold served on previous search committee) The advertisements have already gone out and it is hoped that we will have a new executive director in place by May 2008. The Young Lawyers chaired by Djung H. Tran were responsible for the Mock Trial competition which was held in the courts of Bucks County. There was extensive participation by the members of both the bench and bar. There has been a concern voiced by the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the insurance companies handling the professional liability insurance about the claims made and premiums charged. The Pennsylvania Bar Association, USI Affinity and Westport will be presenting a program regarding the Avoidance of Malpractice on May 8th, 2008. The program will be from 9:00 A.M. to noon for the nominal charge of $25.00. Attendance at this Avoidance of Malpractice Seminar is highly recommended. Michelle Frisbie has graciously agreed to be our liaison from the Bucks County Bar Association to the Pennsylvania Bar Association regarding professional liability insurance.
