Steve Santarsiero Joins Curtin & Heefner LLP

Curtin & Heefner LLP is pleased to announce that Steve Santarsiero has joined the firm as a partner in the firm’s Public Sector and Environmental Law sections.

Mr. Santarsiero has most recently served the Commonwealth as the first Chief Deputy Attorney General of Pennsylvania for Environmental Protection. In that position he oversaw the prosecution of environmental crimes and led the Attorney General’s efforts in fighting the federal government’s attempts to roll back key environmental regulations. Prior to joining the Attorney General’s office, Mr. Santarsiero represented the 31st Assembly District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives where he served for four terms. As a member of the House, Mr. Santarsiero served on the Local Government Committee and the Local Government Commission, where he helped shape Pennsylvania land use and municipal law. He also served on the Children & Youth, Education, Environmental Resources & Energy, and Transportation Committees. Mr. Santarsiero previously served as a member and Chair of the Lower Makefield Township Board of Supervisors and helped organize the Southeastern Bucks League of Municipalities. Earlier in his career, Mr. Santarsiero was a high school social studies teacher and an environmental attorney with a large national law firm.

Mr. Santarsiero is a graduate of Tufts University and the University of Pennsylvania School of Law.

He joins Curtin & Heefner’s prominent Public Sector and Environmental practice groups. The firm serves as solicitor to municipalities in Southeastern Pennsylvania and as special counsel local governments and authorities throughout the Commonwealth. The firm’s environmental practice is recognized statewide as preeminent in the field. In the landmark case Robinson Township v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Curtin & Heefner partner Jordan Yeager successfully argued before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court that Act 13 of 2012, amending the state’s Oil & Gas law, violated Article I, Section 27 of the PA Constitution (the Environmental Rights Amendment). This historic victory has been widely recognized as ushering in a new era of environmental jurisprudence.
